The Azerbaijan national team continues its successful performance at the U-20 European Championship held in Skopje, North Macedonia, in Greco-Roman wrestling.
According to Offsideplus.az, on the second day of the competition, three members of our team reached the podium. Emin Cavadli (55 kg) became the European champion by defeating Armenia's Edgar Petrosyan with a 'fall' in the final. Cavidan Nehmetov (77 kg) lost to Armenia's Samvel Terteryan (0:4), and Orkhan Hajiyev (87 kg) was defeated by Russia's Mikhail Shkarin (0:10), settling for silver medals.
Museyi-Kazim Huseyn (130 kg) lost to his Turkish opponent in the bronze medal match.
On the same day, competitions in other weight categories also took place. Ayxan Cavadov (60 kg) and Elmin Aliyev (82 kg) lost in the semifinals but retained their chances for bronze medals. Roman Karimov (67 kg), who lost in the qualifying round, earned the right to compete in the consolation match due to his opponent's advancement to the final. Kamran Rajabli (72 kg) and Mahir Qurbanli (97 kg) were eliminated from the tournament early.
