The U23 European Wrestling Championships are currently underway in Zrenjanin, Serbia.

According to Offsideplus.az, the medalists in five weight categories for freestyle wrestling were determined on the second day of the competition.

Vasif Bagirov (57 kg) faced Ayanday Ondar from Russia in the final. Despite a strong start and taking a 3-0 lead, our wrestler lost momentum towards the end, finishing with a 3-7 score, and had to settle for a silver medal.

Musa Agayev’s (65 kg) match against Armenian wrestler Arman Musikyan was highly dramatic. Trailing 0-4 until the final minute, our athlete showed true determination to secure a 6-4 victory, earning him the bronze medal.

Ramik Heybatov (70 kg) defeated Georgian Goga Otinashvili (6-2) in the repechage round. In the bronze medal match, he dominated Ukrainian wrestler Mykyta Sariiev (10-0) to climb onto the third step of the podium.

Sabuhi Amiraslanov (79 kg) was unable to overcome Russian Ismail Khaniev in the final, losing 0-11, and finished the European Championships in second place.

Zafar Aliyev (97 kg) tested his strength against Turkish wrestler Emirhan Kilic for third place. Despite a poor start and falling behind 0-9, he fought until the end. Showing true character, Aliyev achieved a stunning 19-9 victory to claim the bronze medal.
