The Azerbaijan Chess Championship continues.

According to the press service of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation, as reported by Offsideplus.az, the first chess players to qualify for the quarter-finals have been determined following two rounds.

In the men's category, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Eltaj Safarli, Aydin Suleymanli, Read Samadov, Ahmad Ahmadzada, and Mahammad Muradli have advanced to the next stage. The winners of the Rauf Mammadov – Shiroghlan Talibov and Khagan Ahmad – Nijat Abasov matchups will be decided in the tie-break games to be held today.

In the women's competition, Ulviyya Fatalieva, Gunay Mammadzada, Khanim Balajayeva, Gulnar Mammadova, Turkan Mamedyarova, Ayan Allahverdiyeva, and Sabina Ibrahimova have progressed to the quarter-finals. The participant advancing from the Govhar Beydullayeva – Narmin Abdinova match will also be determined in a tie-break.

It should be noted that the championship will continue until February 22, with games starting every day at 15:00.
