Shahriyar Mammadyarov, the strongest chess player of Azerbaijan in international competitions, could not win the title of Azerbaijan champion.
Offsideplus.az reports that Rauf Mammadov obstructed the 39-year-old athlete. R. Mammadov beat Teymur Rajabov in the semi-finals and Shahriyar in the final. In addition to the gold medal, Rauf also won a cash prize of 20,000 manats. Sh. Mammadyarov, who lost in the final, was awarded 10,000 manats.
Misratdin Iskandarov was awarded the bronze prize of the national championship. As T. Rajabov refused to participate in the match for the 3rd place, M. Isgandarov won a technical victory.
In the women's fight, the winners were determined in a tie-break.
