Zira will today embark on their first test in European competitions.

Although the Eagles have not experienced the joy of playing in the main stage, they can be considered a somewhat experienced team on the international stage. Under the guidance of Rashad Sadygov, the team has managed to qualify for European competitions three times in the last four years.

It is worth noting that the representative from the town began their campaign in the 2022/23 season from the second qualifying round of the Conference League, earning points for the country’s ranking by drawing one of their matches against Israel's Maccabi Tel Aviv (0:3, 0:0).

In one of their successful seasons, the team advanced to the play-off stage. During that time, Zira impressively eliminated Slovakia's DAC 1904 and Croatia's Osijek. In the play-off, our team lost the first match to Valdas Dambrauskas's Omonia (0:6) but secured a consolation victory in the return leg (1:0).

Last season, they fought closely against Hajduk but could not progress to the next round, finishing with results of 1:1 and 1:2.

This time, Rashad Sadygov's side will face Torpedo. Experts assess the chances in this matchup as equal (50/50). It should be noted that the match will kick off today at 20:00 Baku time.
