On the first day of the "Grand Slam" judo tournament organized in Baku, Azerbaijani athletes won 2 medals.

Offsideplus.az reports that Ahmed Yusifov and Elshan Asadov, among the 12 judokas who appeared on the tatami on the opening day of the competition, managed to get on the podium.

Although Ahmad, competing in the 60 kg weight class, lost in the 1/4 finals, he won all the matches of the consolation stage and took the 3rd place. Elshan Asadov was close to winning a higher medal. Our judoka was stopped by Japanese Takeshi Takeokaya in the semi-finals. Azizbek Ortikova, the representative of Uzbekistan, won the match for Elshan bronze medal.

In the men's fight, our other representatives Balabey Agayev, Murad Muradli (both 60 kg), Ruslan Pashayev, Yashar Najafov and Rashad Yekiyev (all 66 kg) were unsuccessful at different stages.
