"The victory over Thailand is a positive indicator for our team," Farrukh Mahmudov, Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Basketball Federation (ABF), told Offsideplus.az.

The ABF official commented on the Azerbaijan women's 3x3 national team's first win at the FIBA Champions Cup: "It is encouraging that our national team has secured its first victory in such a prestigious tournament. Although we started the tournament with a defeat, it must be noted that our opponent was Canada, a team with great basketball traditions and strength. Our team fought until the end in that match, which demonstrated the character of our girls. Playing against the host team is always difficult, but our players took this game very seriously and achieved an important victory."

Mahmudov emphasized that this win would serve as a stimulus for the team: "We have another serious test ahead in the group stage: the game against Spain. This opponent is also a high-level team. The main thing for us is to approach every game with maximum concentration and demonstrate disciplined basketball on the court. I hope that our national team will show its best performance against the Spaniards tomorrow and make us proud."

It should be noted that the Azerbaijan women's 3x3 national basketball team earned its first victory at the FIBA Champions Cup in a match against the Thai national team. After losing their opening game to Canada (10:16), the team will face Spain tomorrow.
