FIFA has announced its latest world rankings for national teams.

Offsideplus.az reports that the Azerbaijan national team has lost ground in the new standings. The squad, led by Aykhan Abbasov, had finished the previous month in 124th place but has now dropped two positions to occupy 126th place with 1132 points.

The national team's decline in the rankings is a result of its inconsistent performance in friendly matches played in June. Specifically, the team suffered a 0-2 defeat against Malta before bouncing back with a 2-1 victory over San Marino.

As for Azerbaijan's opponents in the Nations League, Lithuania sits in 149th place with 1056.85 points, while Liechtenstein ranks 206th with 797.70 points.

The ranking table continues to be topped by the reigning world champions, Argentina, who lead the world with 1877.27 points.
