Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick spoke at a press conference ahead of their upcoming UEFA Champions League match against Sabah.

Offsideplus.az reports that the experienced manager first praised the opponent's style of play: "They are a very well-coached team. They have won a lot of matches and are playing with confidence. They press well as a team, so we are well aware of what we are up against."

Carrick also assessed the club's recent Champions League history and expectations: "We have to be humble enough to understand what recent history we have had. It does not take away the desire and expectation to be successful, but we need to be realistic. What matters is what lies ahead of us. We have a squad that is really ready for this phase, and we need to keep learning and improving."

Touching upon the tight fixture schedule, Carrick stated he was unconcerned: "I am not concerned. It is not ideal, but it is not something we can do much about. We just have to deal with the cards we were dealt."

The Manchester United boss emphasized the prestige and importance of the competition: "It is a magical competition and it is where we want to be. We have seen special nights over the years, and this is the best competition to challenge yourself against the best. We are delighted to be here, but we are not here just to enjoy the occasion—we are here to do business."

Finally, Carrick addressed squad rotation strategy: "That is precisely why we have a full squad—to adapt to different strengths and styles of play. Playing Thursday and Wednesday means managing the group, trusting the players, and anyone who is ready will play."
