I would like each of our ten freestyle wrestlers to win a medal.

These were the words of Haji Aliyev, the head coach of the Azerbaijani national team for wrestlers under 17, during a press conference.

He commented on the team's performance at the U-17 World Championship held in Baku:

"I was appointed a month and a half before the start of the World Championship. This is my first job as a coach. Achieving results as a wrestler is one thing, but achieving success as a coach is another. I should also mention that in comparison to Greco-Roman and women's wrestling, the freestyle category has very strong athletes from the USA, Japan, and Iran. Therefore, the competition is a bit challenging for us."

Haji Aliyev also spoke about future goals: "We need to raise a healthy generation. We could have had 8-9 world champions, but we couldn't achieve success at the Olympics. We need healthy athletes. In sports, there are both defeats and victories. Let's support those who have lost. If they are criticized today, they might abandon sports tomorrow. The children have undergone different training, and from now on, they will continue with those exercises and show different results."

It is worth noting that Azerbaijan's freestyle wrestling team finished the World Championship with one silver medal, which was won by Ibrahim Hasanov (51 kg).
