Today, the 46th World Chess Olympiad is being launched in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

According to Offsideplus.az, the Azerbaijani men's national team includes Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Rauf Mamedov, Aydin Suleymanli, Mahammad Muradli, and Eltac Safarli. The women's team will feature Ulviya Fataliyeva, Gunay Mamedzade, Govhar Beydullayeva, Khanim Balacayeva, and Gulnar Mamedova.

In the first round, the men's team will face Morocco, while the women's team will compete against Guatemala. Sh. Mamedyarov and U. Fataliyeva will have a rest in the opening round.

The tournament, conducted under the Swiss system and consisting of 11 rounds, will conclude on September 27. A total of 1,032 chess players from 208 teams are participating in the event.
