Sabirabad's Marafon club has made history in the Azerbaijan Cup.

According to Offsideplus.az, the II League representatives have become the first team from the lower division to progress to the Round of 16 after successfully navigating the first two qualifying rounds.

The tournament debutants first eliminated Dinamo with a 3-0 victory, followed by a 1-0 win against I League club Zagatala.

Based on statistics from the last four seasons, II League clubs had lost all 25 matches in similar stages.

It is worth noting that Marafon will face Araz-Nakhchivan in the Round of 16.
