The European U17 Wrestling Championship continues in Samokov, Bulgaria.
Offsideplus.az reports that five Azerbaijani freestyle wrestlers secured medals today. Huseyn Rzazade (48 kg) and Nihad Suleymanli (80 kg) became European champions. Rashid Nazarov (65 kg) claimed silver after a defeat in the final, while Abbas Shafiyev (55 kg) and Hakim Taghiyev (110 kg) earned bronze medals.
Additionally, five more young freestyle wrestlers took to the mat today: Tunar Hasanov (45 kg), Ibrahim Hasanov (51 kg), Vahid Mammadov (60 kg), Tunar Guliyev (71 kg), and Elgun Karimli (92 kg).
Among them, Ibrahim Hasanov managed to advance to the final. Tunar Hasanov, Vahid Mammadov, and Elgun Karimli were eliminated in the quarterfinals, while Tunar Guliyev lost his opening bout.
Currently, the Azerbaijani national team has 13 medals in total (3 gold, 4 silver, and 6 bronze) in its tally.
It is worth noting that the tournament will conclude tomorrow.
