Fans of the Misli Premier League can finally rejoice! The 2026/27 season has officially kicked off, and it has done so in one of the most beloved regions for football in our country—Tovuz.

In the opening match of the season, Turan Tovuz hosted Qabala at their home ground. The familiar script from last season played out once again, as the Western representatives secured a crucial victory by a narrow margin. The festive atmosphere created by football fans was palpable not only in the city stadium but throughout Tovuz. The return of Turan Tovuz to the pitch in front of their loyal supporters added to the celebratory mood in the city.

The match, watched live by nearly 5,000 fans filling the stands, also saw the officiating come under scrutiny. However, the decisions made by head referee Tural Qurbanov did not become a topic of serious debate, and the overall management of the game was deemed satisfactory.

New signing Diogo Balau made a precise and productive pass to Enrike Silva, who netted the only goal of the match. Although the pace of the game was slow, it was the Tovuz side that maintained the initiative and dictated the flow of the match.

Thus, Turan Tovuz secured their first three points of the season by scoring a goal against Qabala in the opening fixture of the Misli Premier League.

It is worth noting that Kurban Berdyev's team had achieved a similar result in the first round of the previous season, when the 'Grey Wolves' defeated Imishli 1-0 to start the championship with a victory.
