Fans of Alpine driver Franco Colapinto have flooded the social media accounts of McLaren's Lando Norris with abusive comments following the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Formula 1.

According to Offsideplus.az, the backlash was triggered by an incident in which Norris and his teammate Pierre Gasly were forced to retire early from the race due to a crash caused by Colapinto. After the finish, the British driver stated that the Argentine driver deserved at least a one-race disqualification.

Additionally, Colapinto's supporters reminded Norris of incidents involving him during the 2025 Canadian and Singapore Grands Prix.

Colapinto's compatriots were particularly active under Norris's latest post from September 17. The post received over 60,000 comments, significantly exceeding the British driver's usual engagement. Most of the comments emerged after the race in Baku. While Argentine fans harshly criticised Lando Norris, Norris's supporters attempted to defend their idol.

Colapinto, for his part, admitted his fault and apologised to Pierre Gasly and Lando Norris.
