Azerbaijan national team head coach Ayxan Abbasov shared his thoughts after the match against Lithuania in Group 2 of the UEFA Nations League D.

According to Offsideplus.az, the specialist stated at the press conference that the team fought at a high level during the match:

"The penalty incident looked questionable. There was a foul on Emil Safarov before that episode. After equalising, we took control of the game. As a team, we performed disciplined. We knew we were playing on a day of special significance for the Azerbaijani people. We could have won, but it was also important not to lose. I believe there will be victories in the upcoming matches."

Abbasov noted that their main goal is to secure the top spot in the group:

"We will fight until the end to achieve this goal. We want to climb above League D. Additionally, the national team needs to further improve its game plan. In terms of performance, we are getting closer to the level we desire and are showcasing the football we have planned.

The players' self-confidence has increased. Over time, we will achieve better results. In the next match, we will also fight solely for victory against Liechtenstein."

It is worth noting that the Azerbaijan national team will play its next match against Liechtenstein on October 1 at 20:00 at the Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium.
