Rovshan Huseynli, who was excluded from the Azerbaijan national futsal team on April 6 due to disciplinary issues, has made a return to the squad.

As reported by Offsideplus.az, the 34-year-old goalkeeper attended the team’s training sessions ahead of their UEFA European Championship main qualifying round match against Croatia. He even visited the national team camp on matchday to support his teammates and wish them success. However, since he was not officially included in the squad, Huseynli watched the 1-4 defeat against Croatia from the sidelines.

Huseynli is considered one of the key players and leaders of the national futsal team. He was left out of the squad last week due to a reported disciplinary breach during the team’s preparation for a match against Sweden.

Unofficial sources claim that Huseynli was dropped after requesting to sleep at home instead of staying at the team hotel during the training camp in Baku. As a player of Kazakhstan’s “Astana” club, he rarely gets to spend time in Azerbaijan and reportedly wanted to be with his family. However, national team head coach Vitaliy Borisov deemed this request unacceptable, emphasizing the importance of all players remaining in the team’s camp, and made the decision to exclude the captain from the squad.
