Azerbaijani fighter Tahir Abdullayev, who will make his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night: Fiziev vs. Torres, will face Brazil's Jeferson Nascimento in a welterweight bout.

Offsideplus.az reports that our fighter spoke about his preparations for the event, which will be held at the National Gymnastics Arena on June 27:

"Fighting in the UFC is a huge opportunity for me and the result of many years of hard work. I have been in sports since I was 15, and I have been competing in professional fights since the age of 18. Making it to the UFC has always been one of my biggest goals, and today I have finally earned the chance to perform in the world's top organization.

I was preparing to sign a contract with the UFC while I was at a training camp in the USA. Initially, I was supposed to face a different opponent, but plans changed later, and I was offered the chance to compete in the tournament held in Baku. When the fight offer came, I accepted it without hesitation. It doesn’t matter much to me who my opponent is. My opponent is Brazilian, coming from the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school. But I want to tell him to be ready. I know his strengths, and I respect them. I step into the octagon only to win, and I am ready to show my power. My nickname is 'Tank'. I am ready to roll over my opponent like a tank.

Fighting in the UFC in Baku, in front of my home fans, is a source of great pride for me. This is a moment I have dreamed of for years. The support of the home crowd gives me extra motivation, and I will do my best to justify this trust.

Right now, my entire focus is on the upcoming fight. My goal is to perform successfully in the UFC, secure victories, and fight for even bigger targets in the future.

Thank you to all the fans for their support. Keep supporting me non-stop when I step out to fight. See you at the National Gymnastics Arena on June 27. I believe that with your support, we will experience a magnificent fight night together."
