Members of the Azerbaijan Mountaineering Federation, Fidan Mammadova and Sima Safarova, have successfully completed another mountaineering expedition in the Dolomites, located in northern Italy.

Offsideplus.az reports, citing the federation's press service, that on June 18-19, the athletes successfully climbed the Monte Paterno peak, standing at an altitude of 2,744 meters within the Tre Cime di Lavaredo massif in the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Dolomites.

The federation members reached the summit via the De Luca–Innerkofler Via Ferrata route, which is considered one of the most famous and technically interesting routes in the Dolomites. Featuring rocky passages, exposed sections, and historic tunnels dating back to World War I, the route requires a high level of preparation and focus. Via Ferrata is the term given to rocky mountain routes equipped with special safety cables, metal ladders, and rungs.
