The Azerbaijani national team of freestyle wrestlers under 23 has become the European champion.

Offsideplus.az reports that our national team has won this title for the fourth time at the continental championship held in the capital of Albania, Tirana.

Among our wrestlers, Arseniy Dzhioyev (86 kg) won gold, Jeyhun Allahverdiyev (61 kg), Kenan Heybatov (70 kg), Aganazar Novruzov (74 kg) and Farid Jabbarov (79 kg) won silver, and Rahman Imanov (57 kg), Murad Hagverdiyev (65 kg), Sadiq Mustafazadeh (92 kg) and Yusif Dursunov (125 kg) won bronze medals.

For the first time, members of our team have risen to the podium in 9 out of 10 weight categories at the European Championship. In addition, for the first time, 5 of our freestyle wrestlers have tried their hand at the final of the continental championship. Our team set a personal record with 169 points in the final standings.

In the final standings, Azerbaijan is 52 points ahead of its closest follower, Turkey. Ukraine took third place with 104 points.
