"Every club has its own approach to the winter break."
Arif Asadov, the former coach of the Azerbaijan national team, stated this in an interview with Offsideplus.az. The specialist shared his evaluation of the winter preparations of the Misli Premier League representatives:
"For several years now, the winter preparation period for our teams has been short-term. Therefore, our clubs try to use that time as efficiently as possible. During this break, some clubs remained in Baku, some went to Antalya, while Neftchi headed to Abu Dhabi.
This break is particularly beneficial for clubs with new head coaches. They gained time to get to know the team closely and instill their playing style in the players."
The specialist also emphasized that our clubs were active during the winter transfer window: "At the same time, some teams took advantage of the transfer window to strengthen their squads with new players. In this regard, Gabala and Kapaz can be noted among the more active clubs.
Some clubs turned to the local market, like Karvan-Yevlakh, because their transfer limits were reached. As for Qarabag, they have their own unique preparation plan, as always. Since the team is mostly focused on the match against Eintracht, they are playing friendly matches aimed at increasing match practice and improving form.
The main goal here is to make the most of the short break to eliminate shortcomings. Although the results of test matches are not that significant, they are important in terms of quality and improving the game plan. We will only be able to see how the clubs utilized this break once the championship resumes."
It should be noted that the championship matches will restart on January 23 following the winter break.
