Following our U-15 national team's match against Israel, which ended in a 3-1 victory, head coach Ayxan Abbasov spoke to Offsideplus.az:

- What are your thoughts on the match?

- The main objective was to win, and we achieved that. Today we won and improved our position in the group of the tournament. The boys played well. It is clear that there is a difference between this match and the first one, as they were more anxious in the opening game. The key is to participate in this tournament, gain experience, and see different countries. This tournament will be a significant milestone in the children's careers. Participating in an international tournament at the age of 15 will always remain in their memories.

- It seems that this generation of footballers has also developed physically better. Do you feel that too?

- It is a bit different. I watched the Uruguay team, and they are also physically strong like us. There are many quality teams here. At this age, it is difficult to make a definitive assessment, as the development period for children continues until they are 17-18, even 19 years old. So, things will still change. Today, we cannot settle for this result and make a final decision, as everything can change by the time they reach 19-20 years old.

- Can we consider the most sensitive age period to be around 15-16? What advice would you give to young players during their transition period to reach a professional level, at least to represent our country at the international level?

- I would highlight the age range of 17-19 instead. In Azerbaijan, there are specific problems at this age. The transition period of 17-19 is crucial: finishing school, entering university, and military service often prevent many players from continuing their careers. The main responsibility falls on the clubs. Today, we need to take a more individual approach to players with potential and talent. Clubs must work hard in this direction to avoid losing that potential. We indeed have good defenders and forwards today, and their physical indicators are at a high level. We must not lose such players, as they are few in number. To nurture more candidates for the national team in the future, every club should pay special attention to promising young talents.
