‘Stars of Tomorrow’ promises great hopes.

These words were expressed by Serkhan Huseynov, head of the Football Development Department of AFFA, in an interview with Offsideplus.az.

He shared his thoughts on the ‘Stars of Tomorrow’ competition, organised jointly by AFFA and the Baku Football Federation (BFF):

“As you know, the project has been revived after several years. Previously, we had players from ‘Stars of Tomorrow’ representing our national team and several successful groups.

For this reason, when the idea of reviving the project emerged, our hopes were very high again. Because, due to its previous successes, it can be said that the taste of ‘Stars of Tomorrow’ had lingered in the mouths of football fans.

I am confident and know that Teacher Tahir and his team have worked hard for this project. With the collaboration of the AFFA leadership, the Baku Football Federation has brought this beautiful and important event back to life.”

Huseynov emphasised the great interest in the tournament:

“First of all, a magnificent opening event was held. The opening match was also very interesting. Here, both our best academies and other small football schools are represented. The live broadcasting of the matches has created a positive buzz in the football community.

You can see a lot of interesting posts about the project on social media.”

It should be noted that ‘Stars of Tomorrow’ features matches in the U-15 age group and will serve as a selection and scouting opportunity for the Azerbaijani national team, which will participate in the FIFA U-15 World Championship and Festival to be held in Azerbaijan. According to FIFA’s decision, players born in 2011-2012 are expected to participate in these competitions.
