The Azerbaijani national team, competing in League D of the UEFA Nations League, has the opportunity to secure a playoff spot for Euro 2028.

According to Offsideplus.az, citing the "Football Mets Data" analytics platform, under the new system, all six teams in League D will automatically be promoted to League C. However, there is an additional chance for the team that performs better than the two group winners in League D to qualify for Euro 2028.

If the group winners from the higher leagues (A, B, C) secure direct qualification for the tournament, the vacant playoff spot will be awarded to the best group winner from League D.

Forecasts suggest that Azerbaijan is the leading candidate for this position in League D, currently ahead of Malta by 0.1 points. Therefore, if our national team finishes at the top of its group and surpasses the winner of the other group, it could qualify for the Euro 2028 playoffs through the Nations League, under certain conditions.
