A wrestling championship for teenagers born between 2011 and 2013 has been held by Neftchi Sports Club.

According to Offsideplus.az, the competition, dedicated to November 8 - Victory Day, took place in the wrestling hall of the Tofiq Ismayilov Olympic Training and Sports Complex in Surakhani. Over 60 athletes competed across 10 weight categories.

The main aim of the event was to promote the historical significance of Victory Day among athletes, fostering love for the homeland and patriotism among the youth. The tournament also aimed to identify talented and promising wrestlers to recruit into the club's selection groups, assess their physical preparation, and enhance their competitive experience.

During the opening ceremony, the unforgettable memory of our heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country was honoured with a minute of silence, followed by the national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In the official part, Farid Aliyev, the executive director of Neftchi Sports Club, warmly welcomed the participants. He spoke about the exceptional importance of November 8 - Victory Day in our nation's history, emphasising the necessity of instilling a spirit of patriotism in young athletes and wishing success to every wrestler who steps onto the mat. Farid Aliyev also noted that this tournament would be a traditional event, held regularly every year. Subsequently, Asgar Khan Novruzov, the head coach of freestyle wrestling at the club, provided detailed information to the participants about the tournament regulations and sports rules. This marked the start of the tournament.

At the conclusion of the intense and exciting competition, winners were determined across all weight categories. Medals, diplomas, and commemorative gifts were presented to the prize winners by Neftchi Sports Club.
