Azerbaijan national team captain Amil Hamzayev has reacted strongly to the comments after the match against North Macedonia.

"We also follow social networks, we saw some comments, some interviews after the game against North Macedonia. I will say, even if it is rude, they are not people we care about. There is a proverb, even a fly is small, but it makes the heart sick. I think there were inappropriate interviews from the head coach of the former national team. If a head coach whose team lost by 67 points under his leadership criticizes a coach who lost by 38 points, how can you call this?! There were many who wanted to hit the fallen one with an axe. At least we fought decently today. The match against Macedonia had lost our self-confidence. At the beginning of the game, when the score was 0:10, we didn't feel the game. We fought on the court because it was our own court, because of the support of the fans. I would like to thank everyone who came, our families, friends, basketball fans, and teammates. Emin Amrullayev met with us before the game and supported us. This game made us wake up "It happened, I think we will fight more healthily in the next matches".
