It was noted that a sample of a member of the taekwondo team was taken during the Azerbaijani championship on December 28, 2019: "The presence of a banned substance or its metabolites or markers (S8. Cannabinoids / Carboxy-THC) was detected in the sample. On 12 February 2020, the athlete and the relevant authorities were officially notified of the violation revealed during the competition. Athletes participating in the Azerbaijani championship usually aim to join the national team for next year. Also, after the doping control on 28 December, Azizov He took part in an international competition in February 2020. "

According to the statement, the investigation was conducted in accordance with anti-doping rules, and as a result, the athlete was offered a 2-year disqualification sanction, and he agreed and signed a form of sanction: "As a result, on July 6, 2020 AMADA Azizov was sentenced to 24 months. (two years). The decision was sent to both the athlete and the relevant authorities.

It should be noted that after the completion of all legal procedures, on August 13, 2020, the decision to suspend the athlete for 24 months (two years) was announced. The sanctions began on February 25, 2020 and will end on February 25, 2022. " 

The statement said that the decision to suspend the taekwondo fighter did not create a legal conflict with his subsequent departure from the sport. "If an athlete decides to return to the sport, he or she must wait for the sanction to expire and notify AMADA six months before returning to the sport."

It should be noted that Ramin Azizov (80 kg) won the 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku. He won a silver medal at the European Championship in Manchester, Great Britain in 2012, and a bronze medal in the same competition in Baku in 2014. The taekwondo fighter won a bronze medal at the 2014 World Championships in South Korea.
