The U-17 European Wrestling Championship continues in Samokov, Bulgaria, with Azerbaijan’s Greco-Roman wrestlers securing their first set of medals.
According to Offsideplus.az, on the second day of the competition, the national team collected two silver and one bronze medal. In the 48kg category, Omar Salmanov faced Russia’s Artem Tkachenko in the final, finishing with a silver medal after a 1:5 defeat. Similarly, Gurban Majnunov (55kg) took home silver following a hard-fought 1:2 loss against Russia’s Edem Payziyev in the championship match.
Meanwhile, Orkhan Habibli (65kg) showcased a dominant performance to secure bronze. After defeating Greece’s Dionisios Bouloutidis in the repechage, he went on to crush Oleksandr Venets of Ukraine with a decisive 9:0 victory in the third-place bout.
