Elmir Aliyev, the newly crowned Azerbaijani national champion in Greco-Roman wrestling, gave an interview to Offsideplus.az.

Competing in the 55 kg weight category, Aliyev defeated Rashad Mammadov with a 2-1 score. Commenting on the match, he said:

"The final was tough. I won the national championship final last year, but Rashad had won the year before that. This year, I secured the victory again with a 2-1 score. God willing, I hope to continue this success in upcoming competitions."

Speaking about his primary goals for 2026, the athlete noted:

"My main targets are the ranking tournament in February and the European Championship shortly after. I will prepare rigorously."

E. Aliyev dedicated his first victory of the year to his brother's child:

"I want to dedicate this victory to my brother's young child. All my victories are for him and my parents."
