Two of our freestyle wrestlers won bronze medals at the U-20 World Championship held in Samokov, Bulgaria.
Offsideplus.az reports that Nurlan Agazade and Yusuf Dursunov will return to Azerbaijan with bronze medals.
N. Agazade (70 kg) achieved this success by defeating his Georgian opponent Goga Otinashvili with a score of 4:0.
Y. Dursunov (125 kg) defeated his French opponent with a score of 3:1.
Today, two more of our wrestlers can climb to the last step of the podium.
Although Vasif Bagirov (57 kg) defeated Brazilian Kayo Arona with a score of 6:1 and advanced to the 1/4 finals, he failed to do so with Indian Sumit Malik – 2:9.
Since his opponent reached the final, Vasif will play a consolation match today.
Anar Jafarli (92 kg) defeated Turkmenistan's Orazmuhammet Khojaliyev by a minimal margin (3:2) in the first round. Our compatriot then defeated both Belarus' Alexey Kulakov and India's Sachin Sachin with a score of 10:0 to book his place in the semifinals.
Anar will wrestle for the bronze medal tomorrow after losing to Kazakhstan's Kamil Kurugliyev with a score of 6:9 in the semifinals.
