A record 616 swimmers have registered for the 5th edition of the "Let's Cross the Kura?!" open water swimming race in Mingachevir, scheduled for August 8.

Offsideplus.az reports, citing Baku City Circuit, that the event marks one of Azerbaijan's largest mass sports initiatives, with participants ranging from 12 to 79 years old. Jointly organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Azerbaijan Swimming Federation, and Baku City Circuit Operations Company, the project aims to promote healthy living and aquatic sports.

For the first time, competitors will race across two distances: 1,000 meters (111 swimmers) and 350 meters (505 swimmers).

The tournament features six age categories for both men and women, with awards presented to the top three finishers in each group.
