Neftchi Sports Club finished the year 2025 with a remarkable total of 1,172 medals.
According to Offsideplus.az, 2025 was a memorable year for the club, whose primary priorities include providing continuous support to the development of Azerbaijani sports. Throughout the past year, the club organized regular competitions across various sports for workers in the oil, gas, and chemical industries, while also successfully focusing on the development of professional athletes.
Achievements and Participation:
Over the past year, Neftchi Sports Club reached numerous milestones. More than 2,000 teenagers and youth, along with hundreds of oil industry workers, engaged in sports across 26 disciplines at the club's facilities, guided by 117 professional coaches.
In 2025, the club provided free physical education and sports services to employees of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic) and their families. Tournaments were organized in sports such as table tennis, backgammon, chess, 3x3 basketball, volleyball, swimming, archery, mini-football, beach volleyball, cycling, athletics, billiards, and shooting, with nearly a thousand oil workers participating.
Based on these results, SOCAR's national teams were formed, participating in all 18 competitions held by the Ministry of Youth and Sports among government employees. Neftchi representatives won a total of 26 medals (6 gold, 10 silver, and 10 bronze) across 14 sports. Consequently, SOCAR secured second place among government agencies for the year.
International and Professional Success
The club’s athletes achieved high results at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games, the 3rd CIS Games held in Azerbaijan, as well as European and World Championships (for youth and seniors) and other prestigious international and national tournaments. In total, the athletes secured 1,172 medals:
Gold: 411
Silver: 314
Bronze: 447
Team Sports and Individual Awards
2025 was also successful for team sports. The Neftchi Sports Club basketball team finished second in the Azerbaijan Championship for the 2024/2025 season and competed in the FIBA Europe Cup group stage for the first time in its history, finishing the stage with 9 points. The futsal team secured a bronze medal in the Premier League (Yüksek Liqa).
At the "Sports Results of the Year" event organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports:
Neftchi Sports Club was named the second-best "Sports Club of the Year."
Zhala Aliyeva was named "Best Female Athlete of the Year."
Hasrat Jafarov was named "Best Male Athlete of the Year."
Isa Rustamov ranked third among the best athletes.
Paralympic Success: Neftchi athletes swept the "Best Paralympian" category, with Ilham Zakiyev taking first place, Roman Salei second, and Kamran Zeynalov third.
