FIDE has released its latest rankings for May, revealing the updated positions of Azerbaijani chess players on the global stage.
Offsideplus.az reports that Shahriyar Mamedyarov remains the top-ranked Azerbaijani male player, securing 26th place with 2,717 points. He is followed by Teimour Radjabov in 39th place (2,689) and Aydin Suleymanli, who climbed to 49th place with a rating of 2,665.
Two other Azerbaijani players are featured in the top 100: Eltaj Safarli holds the 70th position (2,648), while Rauf Mamedov sits at 90th (2,636).
Among the female players, Ulviyya Fatalieva has become the national leader, rising to 25th place globally with 2,450 points. Other representatives in the top 100 include Gunay Mammadzada (69th), Govhar Beydullayeva (72nd), and Khanim Balajayeva (94th).
The world rankings continue to be led by Norway's Magnus Carlsen and China's Hou Yifan.
