The Greco-Roman wrestling competitions at the U-17 European Championship held in Samokov, Bulgaria, have concluded.
According to Offsideplus.az, the national team finished the tournament with 1 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze medals.
On the final day of the competition, Ali Javadli (45 kg) delivered a stellar performance. Facing Russia’s Umar Bogatyrev in the final, our wrestler dominated the match with a 9-1 victory to claim the European title.
Two more bronze medals were added to Azerbaijan's tally. Huseyn Mustafazadeh (51 kg) secured his place on the podium by defeating Georgia’s Davit Shavadze (9-1) ahead of time in the third-place match.
Zohrab Safarov repeated this success, defeating Moldova’s Vladislav Vasilevski (9-0) to finish the race in 3rd place. Another team member, Elmir Cherkezov (60 kg), finished just short of a bronze medal.
With a total of 118 points, the Azerbaijan national team finished third in the overall team standings.
