The U-17 European Championships for young wrestlers continue in Samokov, Bulgaria.
According to Offsideplus.az, the third day of the tournament saw female wrestlers take to the mat.
National team member Khadija Gurbanzada (49 kg) made a spectacular start to the competition. She dominated her opponents, securing back-to-back 10-0 victories over Zuzanna Ptak (Poland) and Kerttu Helmi Ushanoff (Finland) without conceding a single point. In the semifinals, Khadija faced compatriot Madina Bayramova, who represents Germany, and secured her place in the final with a 4-1 victory. Our wrestler will face Olena Kolubay of Ukraine tomorrow for the championship title.
Among our other representatives, Maryam Amrali (57 kg) lost to her Italian opponent (2-8) in the opening round, while Nuray Hasanli (65 kg) was eliminated in the round of 16 after a loss (0-11) to a Turkish athlete.
