Tahir Abdullayev defeated Jefferson Nascimento on the preliminary card of UFC Fight Night Baku.
Offsideplus.az reports that during the post-fight press conference, Abdullayev shared his thoughts on the bout and revealed what he said to his opponent inside the octagon:
"I want to thank all the Azerbaijani fans, our nation, Ruslan muallim, and his team. I talked to my opponent not only in the first round but also in the second and third. I was telling him to just end it. I told him, 'Don't run away like a girl.' He would raise his hand, and I would ask, 'What, do you want me to take you down again?' I dedicate this victory to all Azerbaijanis and to myself (laughs). I simply couldn't lose in Azerbaijan."
When asked, "The fight was announced just a week ago, and you finished the job early today. What would have happened if you had known about the fight much earlier?", Tahir replied with a smile:
"Then I wouldn't have fought at all. Just kidding. I actually knew three weeks ago. I was preparing."
Abdullayev also explained the reason behind making his walkout to the "Mehter March":
"I love the 'Mehter March.' Those who know me well are aware that I always walk out to this music."
Regarding his next potential opponent, the Azerbaijani fighter stated:
"I don't have a specific opponent in mind for my next fight. We don't pick our opponents; they are given to us."
