The list of top scorers in the Azerbaijan Cup has seen some changes.
According to Offsideplus.az, after the first-leg matches of the semi-finals held yesterday, Brazilian players Felipe Santos from Araz-Nakhchivan and Yuri Matias from Neftchi have moved up the rankings.
Both players have scored 3 goals each, sharing the top five positions with three other players.
Felipe Santos found the net against Qarabag, while Yuri Matias scored against Sabah.
Interestingly, all of Felipe Santos' goals in the competition have come from the penalty spot. In Araz-Nakhchivan's last three matches, four penalties have been awarded in their favor. Before facing Qarabag, they were awarded penalties in both home and away matches against Zira in the quarter-finals, with two penalties given in the away leg.
Among players still competing in the tournament, the closest challenger to Santos and Matias is Neftchi's forward Agadadash Salyanski, who has scored 2 goals. The total number of players with two goals is 15, but since their teams have been eliminated, they no longer have a chance to become the tournament’s top scorer.
Meanwhile, in the other semi-finalist teams, Qarabag and Sabah, no player has scored more than one goal so far.
