The opening games of the final stage of the Azerbaijan Chess Championship have been completed.

According to Offsideplus.az, the first match in the men's final between Shakhriyar Mamedyarov and Mahammad Muradli ended in a draw. In the women's final, Ulviyya Fataliyeva secured an early advantage by defeating her opponent, Ayan Allahverdiyeva.

The following results were recorded in the matches for the bronze medal:

• Aydin Suleymanli improved his chances for third place by defeating Read Samadov.

• The first encounter between Turkan Mamedyarova and Gulnar Mammadova ended without a winner (draw).

The second round of matches is scheduled to take place tomorrow.
