Vice President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation, Faig Hasanov, has been included in the Guinness World Records.

According to Offsideplus.az, he has been officially recognized as the longest-serving male arbiter in chess tournaments. Faig Hasanov has devoted 60 years and 149 days to upholding the principles of fairness in chess competitions.

Sheyda Subashi, the official representative of the Guinness World Records, confirmed that the information had been thoroughly verified and that all required conditions were fully met. An official certificate was presented to Faig Hasanov.

The presentation took place during a special ceremony dedicated to Hasanov’s 85th birthday. The event was attended by the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Farid Gayibov, President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation and FIDE Vice President Mahir Mammadov, President of the Georgian Chess Federation Akaki Iashvili, five-time world champion Nona Gaprindashvili, and other notable guests.
