The "Baku Marathon 2026", held under the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, has concluded.

Offsideplus.az reports that 25,000 participants joined the race held under the motto "Win the Wind". Along with Azerbaijani citizens, representatives from the USA, Germany, Great Britain, China, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, and other countries also competed.

In the men's category, Ahmet Alkanoglu from Turkey was the first to cross the finish line. Vitaliy Shafar from Ukraine claimed second place, while Yrskeldi Akerov representing Kyrgyzstan finished third.

In the women's competition, Elena Tolstykh from Russia took first place, Anna Yusupova from Azerbaijan finished second, and Shirin Akimbay from Kazakhstan took third.

Neftchi Sports Club also participated in the marathon with a large squad. Among the representatives, Khadija Eyvazova, Vafa Abdullayeva, Leyli Aliyeva, Elvin Astanov, Imran Garayev, and Vladislav Kalmykov completed the 21 km distance. Sama Ibrahimova, Sahil Mammadov, Narmin Huseynli, and Rubaba Hajizade reached the finish line by completing the full 42 km distance.

It should be noted that the "Baku Marathon," held for the ninth time, was organized as a full 42-kilometer race for the first time. The race started at the State Flag Square, and participants reached the finish line at the "Sea Breeze" area following the designated route.
