The first day of free practice for the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix has concluded.

According to Offsideplus.az, George Russell, the British driver for Mercedes, achieved the best results in both practice sessions held at the Baku City Circuit.

In the first free practice session, which took place in the morning, Russell finished in first place. Red Bull's driver Max Verstappen came in second, while Ferrari's Charles Leclerc secured third.

Russell maintained his lead in the second free practice session as well. This time, his teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli recorded the second-best time, with Max Verstappen completing the top three.

It is worth noting that the main race will take place on September 26.
