The European Judo Championship for adults will be held in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, from April 23 to 27.

According to Offsideplus.az, the Azerbaijani national team will be represented by 16 judokas across 12 weight categories in this prestigious tournament.

This year’s championship holds special significance for Azerbaijani judo. For the first time, the national team will compete in the mixed team event for adults. Additionally, Olympic champions Hidayat Heydarov and Zelim Kotsoyev will return to the tatami after a long break.

The team has undergone intense preparation for the championship. The training process is led by Performance Director Richard Trautman. The men’s judo team is coached by Elchin Ismayilov, Robert Kravchik, and Slavko Tekić, while the women’s team is under the guidance of Head Coach Amina Abdullatif and coach Saša Herkenrat-Vimar.

The list of Azerbaijani judokas participating in the European Championship is as follows:

Men:

  • 60 kg: Ahmad Yusifov, Turan Bayramov

  • 66 kg: Ruslan Pashayev

  • 73 kg: Hidayat Heydarov

  • 81 kg: Zelim Tckayev, Omer Rajabli

  • 90 kg: The athlete for this category will be determined after the European Cup.

  • 100 kg: Zelim Kotsoyev

  • +100 kg: Ushangi Kokauri

Women:

  • 48 kg: Konul Aliyeva

  • 52 kg: Aydan Veliyeva, Gultac Memmedeliyeva
