Azerbaijan may host the prestigious Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
According to Offsideplus.az, citing journalist Ariel Helwani, the famous tournament could take place in the country at the end of June. Initial reports suggest the date is June 21.
The UFC management is close to reaching an agreement for the event to be held in Azerbaijan for the first time.
Notably, the last time a UFC event was hosted in the Caucasus region was in 2019, in Russia.
It should be noted that two Azerbaijani fighters, Nazim Sadykhov and Rafael Fiziev, have competed in the UFC this year. Nazim secured a victory over Brazilian Ismael Bonfim. Meanwhile, at UFC 313, Rafael’s fight against Justin Gaethje in the lightweight division was praised for its excitement and was awarded Fight of the Night honors.
