The World Judo Championships Veterans has kicked off in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
According to Offsideplus.az, the Azerbaijani team won 1 gold and 3 bronze medals in the M1 age category on the first day of the tournament.
Competing in the -100 kg weight category, Mammadali Mehdiyev defeated all his opponents to become the world champion.
Abulfat Ismayilov (-60 kg), Mahir Abbasov (-81 kg), and Joshgun Abdullayev (-90 kg) secured bronze medals.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan is represented by 30 judokas at the World Championships.
