Turkish wrestler Rıza Kayaalp has been banned from sports for 4 years.
Offsideplus.az reports that the European and world champion used a painkiller to relieve pain in the national team's camp. This was a prohibited substance, and as a result, the wrestler received a 4-year disqualification.
All his results since May 28, 2024 have been canceled. The 36-year-old athlete said that he will appeal the decision.
It should be noted that the Turkish wrestler was found to be using doping, and therefore R. Kayaalp could not participate in the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.
It should be noted that Rıza Kayaalp, who competed in the 130 kg. and 120 kg. weight categories during his career, is a 5-time World and 12-time European champion. He won a gold medal at the Baku 2015 European Games.
