Offsideplus.az  presents the text of the statement:

"The coronavirus pandemic is widespread around the world. Unfortunately, the number of people infected with the COVID-19 virus is growing in our country. Therefore, the quarantine regime has been applied in the country since March. As a result, gyms and Olympic complexes have been temporarily closed for training.

However, based on the decision of the Operational Headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers at the request of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the national teams have been allowed to hold training camps since June.

The pandemic has also had a major impact on the World Wrestling Union's (UWW) 2020 calendar. Initially, all competitions were postponed until July. Later, it was announced that the World and European Junior Championships will not be held in September this year. After that, the trainings of our national teams in this age group were stopped.

The UWW Executive Committee meeting on October 12 also canceled the World Youth Championship to be held in Belgrade, Serbia, on December 4-10. Of course, after that, the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation decided to stop the training of youth national teams.

The photo posted in some media yesterday was taken on October 6. At that time, the trainings of national teams in this age group were held, as the World Youth Championship was still on the UWW calendar. Since the cancellation of this competition, only our senior national teams have been training at the Olympic Wrestling Center.

Please be informed that before all training sessions, all members of the national team are tested for coronavirus. Those who test positive are immediately quarantined and treated. Of course, these people can not participate in trainings under any circumstances.

Last weekend, our freestyle wrestling team was tested again. As a result, several athletes and coaches were quarantined due to the detection of coronavirus. Today, the national Greco-Roman wrestling team was tested. Currently, our national teams are preparing for the Individual World Cup, which will be held in Belgrade from 12 to 18 December. In general, national teams around the world hold training camps in accordance with the rules of hygiene, taking into account the importance of next year's Olympics.

We reiterate that the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation fully complies with the quarantine rules and all preventive measures related to the pandemic are taken (athletes and coaches' temperatures are checked before each training, the federation's base and office are regularly disinfected, etc.).

In conclusion, it should be noted that the coach of our national team of young men and women, Isamaddin Huseynov, who died last week, underwent surgery on the cardiovascular system a few months ago and was released from training. "
