Newcastle Issues Travel Warning to Fans for Azerbaijan Trip.

Offsideplus.az reports that as Newcastle prepares for their upcoming visit to Baku, the club has issued a comprehensive travel guide for supporters making the journey. The guide covers everything from local currency to cultural etiquette during the holy month of Ramadan.

The local currency is the Manat (AZN). While Visa and Mastercard ATMs are widely available, card and contactless payments are used throughout Baku. For transportation from the airport (a 20-30 minute trip), fans are encouraged to use trusted apps like Bolt or the local Uber AZ app, as the standard Uber app may not function upon arrival.

Bus: A direct service runs from the airport to the city center, taking 30-40 minutes.

Metro: Operates from 06:00 to 00:00. To travel, you must purchase and top up a BakiKart, which is required even for a single trip.

With Ramadan expected to begin on the evening of February 17th (fasting starting February 18th), fans are asked to respect the culture and local residents observing the fast.

Furthermore, the club emphasized the importance of respectful behavior near historical monuments. Martyrs' Alley is noted as an especially sensitive location; any disrespectful or disruptive conduct in these areas may result in immediate police action.
