Anar Sariyev, head coach of Azerbaijan's U-20 basketball team, has evaluated the results achieved in the B Division of the European Championship.

According to Offsideplus.az, the head coach stated that the tournament was a significant experience for the team and expressed optimism for the future:

"First of all, I would like to thank everyone. We had a very intense and interesting championship. Although we did not achieve the exact results we wanted, we secured a very good outcome in such an important competition in which we participated for the first time. However, I believe we deserve even better and that we will be higher up the rankings next year.

Our group was very strong. In the first match, we could not fully analyse the Swedish team, which ended up third in the B Division at the end of the tournament. We fought well against the other teams as well. The matches we could not win were a great experience for our young basketball players. We felt the tempo of the game on the court, managed to take the lead, and also made comebacks from significant point deficits. This reflects our players' self-confidence and sporting character. This success is the result of the work done by our federation and the entire basketball family over the past four years."

Sariyev emphasised that finishing in 11th place will provide the team with a significant advantage in future qualifications:

"Achieving 11th place among 21 teams is a historic first for us. The biggest positive aspect of this result is that starting next year, we will join the qualifications not from the last pot, but from a higher pot. This will give our team a great advantage for the next competition."
