Today, events have commenced in Baku as part of the international Alufar IRONMAN 70.3 triathlon competition.

According to Offsideplus.az, the IRONMAN village and entertainment zone have opened in the area in front of the "Seven Beauties" fountain on Baku Boulevard. Visitors can immerse themselves in the IRONMAN atmosphere, participate in various fun and interactive activities, and make the most of their leisure time ahead of the main race.

Today also marks the start of registration for athletes participating in the Alufar IRONMAN 70.3 Baku triathlon, which will take place on September 5.

The main event will be held on September 5, with athletes from 62 countries set to take to the starting line. The IRONMAN 70.3 race consists of three stages: a 1.9-kilometre swim, a 90-kilometre bike ride, and a 21.1-kilometre run. Races will be held across 13 age categories for both men and women.

As part of the Alufar IRONMAN 70.3, a relay race will also be conducted. A total of 47 teams will compete in the event, which will feature male, female, and mixed teams. The three most active clubs will be awarded based on the race results.

The top 25 athletes, both male and female, in the Alufar IRONMAN 70.3 Baku will qualify for the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship, which will be held in the USA in 2027.

Additionally, on September 4, the Alufar IRONMAN 70.3 event will include the IRONKIDS and Fun Run races for children. In the IRONKIDS race, children aged 5-8 will run 500 metres, participants aged 9-13 will cover 1 kilometre, and those aged 14-17 will run 2 kilometres. The 5-kilometre Fun Run will be open to individuals aged 18 and over. Registration for both races is currently ongoing.

It is worth noting that the races will be organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan Triathlon Federation, and the Baku City Circuit Operations Company.
