Last season, Xankendi became champions in the second league and is now competing in the first league. Although the team's home matches are noted to be held at the Xankendi city stadium, they are still playing at the Shamakhi Olympic Sports Complex.
So when will the representative of Karabakh return to the city it is named after? The club's manager, Rashad Babayev, provided a statement to Offsideplus.az regarding this matter:
"Xankendi has signed a contract with the Ministry of Youth and Sports to play in Xankendi, and this issue is settled. They have requested time until the end of October for the reconstruction work to be completed. After that, we will most likely play in Xankendi."
When asked if the club's base will also move to Xankendi, R. Babayev responded:
"Discussions are ongoing regarding this. The solution has not been finalised, but it will happen at some point. For now, we will only hold our home matches in Xankendi. The Shamakhi Olympic Sports Complex is our reserve stadium. Until we can play our home matches in Xankendi, opponents will be received in Shamakhi."
